Birthday Resolutions

I turn 36 today. I should have a birthday resolution, instead of a new year resolution. It would be more meaningful because today is my day.

My favorite playwright, Oscar Wilde wrote: "Good resolutions are simply checks that men draw on a bank where they have no account."

Nonetheless, it's good to have some resolutions in life to check if your mind is still working and whether hope is still alive in our hearts.

Perhaps I shall heed this inspirational piece of advice from writer and academician William Purkey:

Dance like no one is watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like no one is listening,
Live like it's heaven on earth.

To sum of it all is: live my life to the fullest, give without expecting anything in return, appreciate life as God's greatest gift, do your best in everything and make the best out of whatever you have in life. Sounds like a good resolution.

  • Happy 36th birthday Nal.

How about adpting the policy of 1 more commitment to make meaning to your birthday

    i) To make tomorrow better han today
ii) To add i more skill before you turn 37
iii) To kerjakan i more ibadat sunat atau wajib kepada Allah.
Ensuring that you perform one more(prayers) wajib if you have not met the 5x requirement,or one more sunat eg sembahyang sunat
dhuha at 8.00 a.m every morning before you go to work
iv) To make your parents happy

When you turn 37 , let us know how enriching your life has become.
The we celebrate again at Lake Club
    How about that?

  • Thanks, sounds good. Have already got a headstart in working towards these since mid year...

I will belajar al quran, sebab tak khatam lagi. Hopefully i will khatam by next birthday :) I've already started attending classes on terjemahan & tafsir al quran about 2 months ago. Perhaps I will take a refresher course in mandarin language if i'm not starting my MBA next year. If i can manage, i can do both, depends on timing, if my MBA starts in Sept / late in the year that is. But learning al quran is a must, that's my investment for akhirat. So, all in all, that's a few more skills added :)

Have started regular solat since i turned 35, but still at 80% level. Now still miss one or two some days lah. Now working towards 99% tak miss, if not 100% tak miss. Solat dhuha have started but not every day yet, just weekends, but will try to do everyday.

Making my mom happy is impossible but i'll try hehe, moving in with her is my first effort, and managing her grocery shop on weekends and after work is my second effort. Of course, to make her happier i gotta find a good husband, as she's been bugging me about remarrying. But that's not up to me entirely, itu soal jodoh. So, if i get married next year it's a bonus. WIll surely invite you to my wedding, whenever that is!

Yes, will gladly celebrate at Lake Club, life enrichment, that is :) Thanks !

  • Thanks, I don't know if my being busy is the reason why I'm still not married, or is my not being married the reason why i keep being busy....
